WHO IS MJ?

In 2008, Mike Harvey ran over a kitten in Ansted, WV. But don’t worry! The forlorn feline made it between Mike’s wheels, and was fine.

Well, he was fine from the car encounter, but the kitten’s health was another story. In the brief moments he saw the little orange tabby lying in the road, Mike could tell he had not been fed in quite some time. Mike pulled his car to the side of the road, ran back and grabbed the cat. He was matted and diseased, listless and weak, and covered in parasites. It was clear the cat would not survive long without help. Mike headed straight for the vet.

“I’m a sucker for hard-luck stories,” says Mike. He and his wife, Terri, adopted the the kitten, who they named MJ.

MJ has been with Mike through many happy days... and more than few hardships. In 2017 Mike suffered two consecutive massive strokes which left him in a wheelchair. Then in 2021, Mike sadly lost Terri from complications due to cancer and Covid. Through it all, MJ has been by Mike's side, a stalwart friend and constant comfort.

Some fun MJ facts:

1. He sneezes a lot.
2. He refuses to ever go outside.
3. One pupil is slightly larger then the other.
4. Though he is not by any means a large cat, he eats constantly.
5. He sleeps in Mike’s bed and paws at his face. All. Night. Long. “Because he’s always hungry,” says Mike.
